Erica Dunbar Armstrong

As you may know, the History channel, A&E network, has produced a new miniseries based on Alex Haley’s classic novel, Roots: The Saga of an American Family, originally published in 1976 and made into an award-winning miniseries that aired in 1977.

We are pleased that Erica Armstrong Dunbar has agreed to watch and comment on the series for Process. Her posts—one for each of the 4 episodes—will appear following each East Coast broadcast, beginning on Memorial Day, May 30.

Dunbar and colleagues Kellie Carter Jackson, Daina Berry, and Jessica Millward will also participate in an AMA (“Ask Me Anything”) at Reddit’s AskHistorians forum on Friday, June 3, aiming to field questions about the history of American slavery, the slave trade, and the representations of slavery.
